With the imminent season change from balmy summer sun to dry winter cold it’s time to transition your skin routine to reflect the weather conditions. With that in mind, Beauty Master Tiffany at the Murale in West Edmonton Mall devised the perfect skincare formula (both day and night) especially for the season.
Cleanse – Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser
Prior to this mini facial I was guilty of limited morning efforts; a quick sweep of toner across my face was my version of a thorough wash. As I have discovered, it isn’t beneficial to apply cream to an unwashed face. Eve Lom is a skincare line from the UK (sold exclusively at Murale) that utilizes natural oils and exfoliants. The Morning Time Cleanser balm has a unique combination of natural oils to tone, smooth, exfoliate and stimulate collagen production with clove, eucalyptus, hops, and Egyptian chamomile. It’s also paraben free!
To use: apply to dry skin and gently massage in for two minutes then rinse – don’t forget to cleanse your neck as well.
Toner – Absolis Patyka Face Toner Rose
Tiffany informed me that the first step to moisturizing is toning your skin. Absolis Patyka Toner is alcohol-free and uses rose water to gently hydrate and tone all skin types. It’s especially effective for those of us who have sensitive skin.
To use: saturate a cotton pad and gently skim the surface of your face remembering to include your neck.
Darphin Hydraskin Intensive Skin-Hydrating Serum
– 30ml $100
Darphin is another brand unique to Murale that utilizes natural ingredients and is completely paraben free. The serum is applied before the moisturizer to hydrate your skin and decrease fine lines. It’s beneficial to all skin types.
To use: pump a pea-sized portion onto your finger and lightly tap onto face and neck. Less is more when it comes to serums.
Darphin Hydraskin Light Gel Cream
– 50ml $80
The finishing touch for the face and neck is the light gel cream that will keep your skin moisturized throughout the day. Darphin is known for its luxurious textures and this cream is no exception to that notion.
To use: apply a pea-sized amount to fingers and gently tap onto your skin. Spread gel lightly across surface of your face and neck.
Cleanse – Eve Lom Cleanser
– 100ml $88
Heralded as the #1 facial cleanser in the world, the multi-award winning Eve Lom Cleanser is a luxurious herbal balm for the face. It literally smells like a cup of warm steeped tea but feels like the soothing cool of aloe vera on a burn. This balm, like its sister product, the Morning Cleanser, also contains the four essential oils as well as cocoa butter. If that isn’t brilliant enough, it also acts as a make up remover.
To use: apply to dry face with your make up still on and massage it in using the Eve Lom Facial Technique to help improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage among a multitude of other benefits.
Darphin Organic Rose Aromatic Care Oil
– 15ml $94
Oil is one of the greatest moisturizers and (surprisingly) cleansers available. Rose oil is known to soothe and enrich the skin; this aromatic care oil does just that, all while being eco-certified.
To use: three drops lightly patted on face and neck.
Darphin Hydraskin Rich
– 50ml $80
Post-oil, seal in the moisture with the thick whipped texture of the Hydraskin Rich cream.
To use: Less is more. Dab on and gently massage into face and neck.
Day & Night
Darphin Dark Circles Relief & De-puffing Eye Serum
– 15ml $100
Darphin Anti-Fatigue Smoothing Eye Gel
– 15ml $48
Eyes, hands, and neck are the first to show signs of aging. While some may say eye cream is excessive, I believe it’s essential.
To use: begin with the eye serum by applying a pea-sized portion under your eyes with your ring fingers. Massage in to increaser circulation. Follow by patting on eye gel. In the evening be sure to apply both to the eyelid as well.
- Pay attention to the labels on the back of the product. If you’re anything like me, you’ve just been informed that the illustrated picture with a number is how long the product is good for. 6M = 6 months!
- Sunscreen is the best anti-aging product out there.
- Organic products without parabens (chemical preservatives) do not last as long by nature and should be kept in cool dark places out of sunlight to maximize their shelf life.
