1. QUO MAKEUP BRUSHES
"The No. 1 item I own is makeup brushes," says Ryan. "I can’t live without them, especially the Quo Professional. They’re among the best brushes I’ve used in my almost 30-year career." Available for shadow, foundation, powder, eyeliner and blush, each of these tools is specially designed for its unique application.
"You’ll want to have a brush for each colour, so the shades don’t get muddy or change consistency.'
2. CARGO THE REVERSE LIP LINER
"This season, I can’t live without this product. It’s genius!" says Ryan. The natural-coloured liner is applied to the outer edges of the lip line to lock colour in place and give the appearance of a plumper pout. "If you have any lines around your mouth, they’ll disappear," says Ryan. "It really holds lipstick and will last all day without looking heavy. I have one in my purse, my professional kit, my own makeup bag—I keep them everywhere!"
For older women who have small dark spots or blemishes on their face, Ryan recommends rubbing a little overtop, then blending gently to make the spots disappear.
3. NARS VELVET MATTE LIP PENCIL IN BELLE DE JOUR
Another one of Ryan’s faves is this lipstick, which boasts the convenience of a pencil in a jumbo-crayon design. Lips are instantly saturated with rich pigments and a velvety matte finish. Use for lining, all-over lip colour or pair with another lip product. "I like to use a lip brush because it offers more definition, then your gloss can be applied on top," says Ryan.
"Use the sides of the brush to get a nice clean line."
4. BOBBI BROWN CREAMY CONCEALER
A yellow-based concealer will help camouflage dark circles, and this long-wearing one gives quick just-right coverage. "It stays true once it’s set with powder," raves Ryan. "That means it doesn’t move, crease, change colour or settle in fine lines. Most of my clients are addicted to it."
"Use a foundation brush to blend it so no brushstrokes are left behind."

5. STILA EYE SHADOW PANS IN COMPACT IN MIMOSA
Bright colours look stunning on dark skin tones, and Ryan adores this shadow because it changes colour as it warms to your skin. "When you look at it in the compact, it’s the colour of an orange," she says, "but when you put it on, it’s a beautiful coral tone." Beauty bonus? It can be applied wet or dry and is crease-proof.
"I brush a bit of coral-orange on the apples of the cheeks to add brightness."
